You'll want to refer to the gauge & yardage requirements of your pattern to find the closest matching batch. We suggest ordering all the yarn you’ll need for your project at once. This guarantees your entire project will come from the same matching shade lot. In the world of luxury reclamation it is exceedingly rare to come across an exact batch twice, so to avoid playing yarn chicken it’s better to order more than less, as individual batches cannot be restocked once sold out. Pure cashmere is a delicate natural fiber and requires gentle handling. First, it needs to be wound into a loose cake or ball. Do not attempt to start knitting directly from the twisted skein/hank, as your precious yarn will tangle beyond repair. Winding can be done by hand or using a dedicated yarn winder. Untwist the hank and place it over a household object (dining chair, cardboard box) to keep the strands in place. The winding tension should be slow and even to preserve that gorgeous halo.

Our skeins never contain knots. To provide you with the longest continuous strands possible, reclaimed cashmere may be invisibly joined by wet splicing. Because cashmere is a 100% natural protein fiber, the strands felt together easily when wet which makes for seamless joins (no need to weave in ends!) and does not affect the finished yarn in any way.

Skeins and swatches are photographed in natural lighting using different angles to represent color and texture as accurately as possible. Absolutely! At Lalitā we specialize in only hand-reclaimed 100% cashmere, which is widely known as the softest protein fiber in the world. If you find wool, alpaca, or mohair itchy, you may find cashmere is the best alternative. If you have severe skin sensitivities, we recommend ordering a sample to swatch first.
